As I was handed the MWC baton for today, this song came to my mind.
A few years back, a famous techie in twitter tweeted that the waitress at the cafe he was sitting, had released an amazing single. When I heard the song, I was hooked. This singer Hanisha Solomon, an Ethiopian oromo singer has a beautiful voice that makes you like her powerful songs, even without understanding the lyrics. She is an upcoming artist based out of London, has a band now, does tours, live shows, is played a lot in radios. This song 'Amma' is her first single though her other songs 'ayyoo', 'African unite' are famous too.
This song Amma, is about life’s ups and downs, the struggle one feels when they want to be somebody. The song touches you, it helps one feel that they will overcome their difficulties and achieve their ambitions someday. This reflects the singer's own life as how she moved to London from Ethiopia at very young age, made her passion for singing come alive through the years.
This song sounds more like a Tamil song to me. As I was writing this, I noticed Hanisha needs a wiki page.
